Anna Pavlova & the Bacchanale sculptures
Photo from Malvina Hoffman's book "Yesterday is Tomorrow" now out of print. Anna Pavlova poses for Malvina Hoffman for the Bacchanale Program.1914. The two women spent many hours, weeks, months years posing and drawing creating a large body of work for use by Pavlova in her programs and posters for promotion and for Hoffman in bronze. These sessions sometimes included male dancers from her company and the end result was a 26 panel bas relief "Bacchanale" frieze which never wa
